Curly vs. Sweet Pea

So I've recently discovered that 2 of my bantams are roosters. I only have 6 other little bantams so 2 roosters would be too much for my little hens. These little guys are very feisty and I'm having a hard time deciding who to give away. Curly has been aggressive since day one- so my natural instinct says to give him away. But Sweet Pea has been more feisty here lately. I don't want to part with either of them but it has to be done. My daughter says to use the old "hinky pinky ponky" saying๐Ÿ˜‚!

Namesake

I find that the best way to start something new is to figure out what you expect from it. So I want to explain to my readers what to expect in this blog. Some of the things that may be found on this blog could be: 1.  Stories about life ((my life)),  2.  Recipes - tried, kid {AND husband} approved,  3.  Raising chickens - my hobby :), 4.  Inspirational and/spiritual or religious aspects 5.  Tried and true Pinterest* ideas.

"Simple. Frugal. Semi homemade." isn't only this blog's namesake, but also the definition of each post! I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing each post!

Matthew 6:33 "But seek yes first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

Organized chaos: packing for church camp

We are heading to camp a week from yesterday so we are all in packing mode!๐Ÿ˜“ The boy cabins are on the opposite side of the camp from the girl cabins and we (girls) are not allowed over there... SO, I am frantically trying to make things as organized as possible for my [almost] 10 year old son!  My hubby will be there but there will be 26 other boys he will be helping to watch after so he will have his hands full to say the least.  I can just imagine the chaotic mess their cabin(s) will be in with all those boys digging in their suitcases and just dropping their stuff wherever.  Since I can't be there helping to keep it organized, I will help the cause as best I can before we go!

Each person can only bring one suitcase [which must include but not limited to bedding AND enough towels and washclothes for 4 days!]  I have learned how to "Ranger Roll" a towel and I use 2.5 gallon zip bags to keep outfits separated and labeled.  I am wondering if there are other things I could do to make our {my} lives easier. Suggestions welcomed!!!

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose."

Heerree chickie, chickie, chickie!

We have one [type of] pet. Chickens.  27, in fact.  We have 10 different breeds, 4 of which are bantam breeds.  We started with our chickens 3 years ago and (believe it or not) I didn't want them.  I could just imagine that it would turn into another one of those mom situations where no matter whose pet it is, mom is the one that cleans up after it, feeds and waters it, and makes sure it has what it needs.  Which is essentially what happened over time ๐Ÿ˜‰ but that's ok because I enjoy every bit of it!  This past spring, we purchased 18 new chickens, 9 of which are mine.  They are the cutest little bantams that I love taking pictures of!  I look forward to introducing them to you!
